At the upcoming AMB 2016, we will present our innovations in the field of high-precision bore machining in universal machining centres and tool technologies for conventional application to honing in hall 8 at booth B78 (8B78). This years main attraction has arrived, a DMC 60H linear made by DMG Mori. We will show our tool technologies coolEX LM (in-process air gauging) and coolEXact on this machine live and in cutting action.

Together with our partner - the company SCH Brilliant International Group - we attend a trade fair in China for the third time . The CCMT in Shanghai is considered to be the sister trade fair of CIMT in Beijing, at which we have already displayed honing technologies for machining centers and honing machines in 2015. This year again we are going to focus on the topic of honing on machining centers. On a standard horizontal machining center H2000 of the Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik GmbH with a cross feed device (u-axis unit) we will showcase our coolant expanding honing technologies coolEX®, coolEXact® and coolEX®float, as well as our step-mechanical controlled Xstep® honing and our FixedDiameter honing. The advantages of each single solution will be shown in a paractial live demonstration on components such as engine blocks, connecting rods and hydraulic valves including the CAM integration in edgeCAM.
The coolEXact® honing tool technology allows the classic hydraulic controlled honing on a machining centre with size control without technical modifications on the machining centre, using regular honing kinematics (expansion during processing), thus generating the classical cross hatch pattern at a defined honing angle.

The so far largest coolEX®-honing operation was sucessfully deployed in a hydraulic component, honing diameter 275mm and honing length exceeding 1000mm.
The operation of the components including honing on the milling machine fully eliminates the need of a honing machine, thus giving enormous potential in saving operational and investment costs.
The task was the prove of concept of a 2-stage honing of a V8 engine block in an existing machining center with KomTronic® U-axis system of KOMET®. The solution is a combination of coolEX®- and Xstep ®-honing tools to gain the advantages of both honing systems.
Die Aufgabenstellung war die Darstellung der 2-stufigen Honbearbeitung eines V8-Motorblocks in einem vorhandenen Bearbeitungszentrum mit KomTronic® U-Achs-System von KOMET® . Zur Lösung wurde eine Kombination von coolEX®- und Xstep®-Honwerkzeugen gewählt, um die Vorteile beider Systeme zu kombinieren.
Komet® Komtronic® U-axis system in combination with Xstep® honing tools from from DIAHON, machining centres (MC) can be used for path-controlled honing (SME). This provides enormous economical advantages and a raise in qualiy. It allows smaller and medium-sized series to be pre-machined and honed in a single fixture on the machining centre. Loss of accuracy and time due to reclamping is eliminated. In addition process times are reduced due to the low honing allowances afforded by this technology.

The IDEEN-FORUM+ 2013 discussed current challenges for the economy, society and politics on the topic of energy efficiency.
We present our new developments in this context to the topic "change of modern tooling systems" with a technical presentation in the area of "honing technology for machining centres".
The cooperation (existing since the beginning of 2012) of DIAHON Werkzeuge GmbH & Co. KG and the KOMET GROUP GmbH (Besigheim/GERMANY) in the field of mechatronics (including u-axis-systems) has been very positively accepted by the market. First pilot projects have been successfully completed and the results are seen as the "Trend of the future - honing with Xstep® and KomTronic® in M/Cs".
