To achieve optimum results during honing operations, special care and experience must be used in the selection of the cutting material. Our first step is to ask for all data relevant to the process (e.g., part sketches, material, allowances). Our application engineers will then determine the specification of the hones by means of the size and type of the abrasive grain, type of metal bond, concentration of the super abrasive grain, as well as additional bonding additives to meet your requirements. Continous optimisations by our application engineers ensures that your honing process stays at the forefront of technology.
Our hones are made with grite sizes from D251 to D046 (B251 to B046) according to FEPA and in fine grit with grain sizes to below 2μm average grain size. Our quality assurance guarantees grain size distribution within very low deviations. Custom grit sizes above D251 (B251) are available on request.
Metal bond diamond honing stones are especially well suited for efficient machining of the following materials:
Resin bond honing stones with micron size diamond grit, especially well suited for:
Compact honing stones are inserted directly in the tool without carriers, i.e., they have the appropriate tapered expansion angle already on it.
The width is tolerated approximately 10-15 μm less. On request the compact honing stones are supplied with additional 0.1 mm in length, so that each can be adapted to the respective tool.
For special applications we fabricate sintered honing ring segments and electroplated honing sleeves in all available grit sizes for the use on our shell or custom honing tools.
Our metal bond hones are specified, for example, in length x width x height / coating thickness. Various shapes are available for different applications.
