Honing tool systems for tube machining

THT honing tools – tools for tube machining

THT honing tools are modular tools that make it possible to cover wide diameter ranges with minimal investment, as the support bars can be fitted into tool bodies for different diameter ranges.

Our metal-bonded honing stones are screwed onto the support bars, enabling the cutting media to be replaced easily without removing the tools from the machine.

The connection configuration (e.g. NAGEL, GEHRING, SUNNEN or DIAHON interface) is specified when the THT honing tools are ordered. Thanks to the modular design, the interface can be changed easily if required.

The THT honing tool series is based on the following tools:

  • 6L60-82/225-315 (Ø60-82mm)
  • 6L83-107/225-315 (Ø83-107mm)
  • 6L107-131/225-315 (Ø107-131mm)
  • 6L131-155/225-315 (Ø131-155mm)
  • 6L155-179/300-390 (Ø155-179mm)
  • 6L179-203/300-390 (Ø197-203mm)

THT tools can be manufactured for large diameters exceeding 1,000 mm. They are tailored to the customer’s requirements for each application. For transmitting very high torques, we recommend configuring the tools with the internal bayonet interface developed in cooperation with one of our customers (e.g. DIAHON IB65).

SHT shell honing tools – tools for tube machining

SHT shell honing tools are characterised above all by their smooth running, efficient twist correction after deep-hole drilling and their ability to machine interrupted bores. The SHT honing tool system covers the diameter range from 24 to 100 mm.

SHT shell honing tools can be manufactured with an internal bayonet interface for improved torque transmission. For larger diameters, SHT shell honing tools can be supplied with screw-mounted, metal-bonded honing stones.

The SHT honing tool series is based on the following tools:

  • SH2S24-30/100-150 (Ø 24-30mm)
  • SH2S30-40/100-150 (Ø 30-40mm)
  • SH2S40-50/120-170 (Ø 40-50mm)
  • SH2S50-60/120-175 (Ø 50-60mm)
  • SH2S60-80/150-210 (Ø 60-80mm)
  • SH2S80-100/150-210 (Ø 80-100mm)

For diameters above 100 mm, we recommend using THT honing tools because of their significantly lower tool weight.
