DPMS 3.0 integrates pneumatic diameter measurement directly into CNC machining centres and CNC lathes. Depending on the application, measurement takes place during machining (in-process) or before and after a machining operation.
This allows honing, reaming, fine-turning and burnishing processes to be monitored inside the machine. The objective is a stable, automated process with 100% inspection of the relevant bores.
DPMS 3.0 supports different measurement strategies:
This allows the measurement concept to be matched to the specific process and bore geometry.
Measured values are transferred to the machine control and can be converted into process information and correction decisions. Adjustable tools can therefore be monitored and corrected directly in the machine.
In combination with suitable DIAHON tool systems and µ-matik, DPMS 3.0 can provide the basis for a closed-loop system for wear compensation and diameter control.
Integration is engineered for the specific machine and application. Depending on the project, PROFIBUS, PROFINET or CC-Link can be used for communication with the PLC. DPMS 3.0 is used with SIEMENS, HEIDENHAIN and FANUC controls, among others.
Mechanical integration includes the measuring-air transfer and a machine-specific torque support. The system can be implemented as a single-spindle or multi-spindle solution and can be integrated either as a retrofit or into a new machine.
The DPMS software visualises current measured values, target and reference lines, as well as measurement and trend curves. Measuring tools and their calibration data are managed in a tool database.
Suitable calibration rings can be assigned to each measuring tool. Required calibration can be initiated manually or automatically by the machine, closely linking measuring-equipment management with process monitoring.
DPMS 3.0 supports continuous documentation of bore quality directly from the machine. Measured values and measurement histories can be made available for quality assurance and, depending on the project, transferred to higher-level systems via MQTT or CSV.
This makes dimensional trends, limit violations and process corrections transparent and traceable.
DPMS installations are used in series production worldwide on machines from various manufacturers, including platforms from MAKINO, COMAU, HELLER, DMG MORI, GROB and STARRAG HECKERT.
